Patreon Update November 2021 (And somewhat worrying news)

For this month, I will be trying to catch up with the majority of my commissions, both kiss tier and the normal commissions, so I might not do much of my own art contents. Hope you guys are ok with it ^^

Though.... I also have some news about my patreon art and commissions in the future....

Apparently, Paypal Thailand is going to update their policy by the start of February 2022. And it does not bode well for digital artists. Like, at all. Here's a brief detail on what they're going to do with Paypal users that resides in Thailand.

- You are required to upgrade your account to a business account.

- To verify a business account, you "must register a business trademark" and show proof.

- If approved, bank transfer will now also include tax rates based on your business model.

- If I do not upgrade your paypal to a business account by February 2022, I will not be able to transfer or receive any money from commissions or Patreon.

So if you've known some of the Thai artists, you may also have seen them rant about this issue because at the moment, this policy literally cripples our workflow. The biggest issue is having digital artists to register a trademark and as far as I've looked into, none of the digital artists have ever done that before.

Registering a trademark might not be easy either. From what I've heard, you are forced to upload a monthly statement of your bank account and as you may know, most digital artists don't have a monthly income. While I can consider Patreon fundings as a monthly income, I only do payouts when I needed to cause I didn't really want my funds to all hog into the Paypal account. In fact, it's not even that much to be considered as a business trademark. 

Overall, many artists are still struggling and trying to find a solution for them to deal with this matter. The biggest problem is that many platforms are integrated solely to Paypal and our options are limited. Some suggest that we move to subscribestar as an alternative exclusive content and for just commission money transfers, they suggested an app called Wise. So maybe in the future, I might have to move out of Patreon or something. Not entirely sure yet though...

In any case, hopefully, I can find a solution to this mess before the new policy kicks in. Thanks again for your support!
