MAPPA Month | April 2021 Update

We're back on track! The Attack on Titan video is doing really well and I'm two drafts into the much-requested Studio MAPPA video. It's been the most requested video on the channel, but it's definitely going to be different from most requesters expectations.

I feel that it's impossible to separate overwork and the creations of overwork. In the past, The Canipa Effect was a lot more optimistic and was mainly just about great animation, but I've felt that it's more and more relevant to talk about the sacrifices that takes, especially when the entire industry is transforming into more and more of an animation factory.

The title of the Studio MAPPA video is: "The Two Sides of Studio MAPPA" and talks about the front-facing side of well-crafted adaptations, alongside the management, where studio leadership continue to ramp up production despite being entirely aware of the overall issues.

After this, we'll be done with the viewer-requested videos and I'll be back to making stuff nobody cares about again!

Comments

Before I had even heard of MAPPA (I first learned of the studio's name when Dororo was airing-I had seen their works prior but was unaware of the studio name), I once thought of A1-Pictures as that studio that was forking out too much stuff (correct me if I'm wrong on this matter). There was a period of time when it seemed like every anime that was coming out was being made by them. After talk of MAPPA taking on many many projects spread by the anime production bloggers on twitter (eight shows under their name aired in 2020!), well A1-Pictures no longer shows up on my mind anymore these days.
