Progress for Feb 2025

Hello, perverts! It's been a stressful month in the United States. If you're from around here, I hope you're taking care of yourself. If you're from the rest of the world, I'm sorry about things; we're doing what we can to limit the amount of harm caused by this ongoing self-coup.

I'm still working on stuff for 0.64. The structure for the lectures at Pappy's is in place, and I'm in the middle of writing options for the lessons to teach and the questions that your students can ask. I'd like to release this one in stages, with more rowdy lesson plans coming in a later update.

I've also been working on background art. In the finale, there will be cases where you'll visit "corrupted" Elsewhere versions of some familiar locations. However, most of the backgrounds in the game are photos that have been edited and had filters applied. Adding hand-drawn elements to those could look out of place. In the images attached to this post, you can see the current state of a redraw of Terry's chambers as compared to the old art. I'm very open to feedback on these, but I think that I've already improved the look of the night-time version of this background, and the corrupted version should look much better than if I added things to the old photomanipulated backgrounds.

I asked the Center of Attention patrons about the state of the game's background art in general, to figure out if this was something to do very selectively or if I should think of it as part of a general background overhaul. Folks generally agree that the backgrounds aren't amazing, but no one considered them distracting or a major priority to improve. As a result, I'll only be updating/replacing backgrounds when it makes ongoing work better (or if I particularly dislike one) and leave the majority of them the same for now.

I don't have a confident prediction on a timetable for this update. I'd like to find a point in March where things are in a state to package up what I have so far. Please let me know if you have any thoughts, requests, or questions in the meantime!
