2019-09-27 03:01:20 +0000 UTCPete, yeah, it's just the smartest solution. Like mentioned in the episode, Elon said probably one would be enough on Mars, but more would be the safer approach. Not more is known at the moment. Elon said though, that he will cover the topic on Saturday!

2019-09-26 18:17:57 +0000 UTCYour answer about how Starship will use aerobraking to slow itself down upon arrival at Mars is fascinating; initially I thought they might use the vacuum engines to do the job but I guess saving fuel is more important than getting the astronauts on the ground as fast as possible. Do you have any idea how many orbits and how much time Starship will require to complete the aerobraking? At the very least it will give the astronauts lots of time to do some sightseeing of the Mars globe from an elliptical orbit. (Pete)
