For deploying cargo and astronauts a crane was suggested by SpaceX and for satellites the fairing will have a large door (unmanned version of Starship).

When Starship lands on moon/Mars, does anyone know the plan for astronauts and cargo getting to and from the surface? And for deploying satellites, what opens up?

Hard to tell. As there is no real re-entry heat from a hight of 22km, I think, they won't be testing that so much. And then it depends if the flaps will be articulated. If they are, They will probably test them! And then do the classical landing burn. Probably not a suicide burn though. ^^

I agree! It's this strange position, that you have to be in as a SpaceX fan, right. There's always this "don't get me wrong" or "I am not a fanboy, but" involved. It's just that SpaceX is doing most of the exciting stuff right now. When James Webb sends its first pictures, you bet I will do an Episode about it, but right now... it's Starship, Starlink, Starman and Dragon, that keep us very excited!

So Felix what do you anticipate the re-entry profile will be for Starship after it has ascended to 22 kilometers in October? Are they likely to let it fall from that height, then allow it heat up to test the ship's ability to withstand re-entry heat and finally fire the descent rocket engines or will they descend under power from 22 km while they continue to apply thrust all the way to the ground?

Just thinking, after the Space Shuttle program ended and the ISS was constructed there has been a void as such and the advancement or next chapter in the pursuit of extending our presence beyond our home planet further has been a long and dreary one, that is until SpaceX came along. Don’t get me wrong I love all things space and all those who are also willing to take up the challenge to pioneer a way forward, technology or otherwise. I have been in awe of the SpaceX journey and view the upcoming months and years ahead as an exciting time for all who love space and science (Not only for the space nuts like me).
