Interviewer: Looking back on what you have drawn so far, can you feel some developments or changes in you?

Miura: Regarding my drawings, (I get to) to draw as I want… no, that’s not true. Maybe nothing has changed after all. As for me, for about one to two weeks after I’ve finished a manuscript, I feel a sense of accomplishment; “I did it, I managed to draw something great!” but it fades gradually afterwards… It may be impolite to say this for those who kindly read (my work), but once they’re completed, the manuscripts inevitably become a thing of the past, which doesn’t make me look back on them much.

Interviewer: I see, soon afterwards, your mind turns to what to draw next.

Miura: I’d say that I can’t enjoy my creations fully because it’s a causal profession. Sometimes I review the volumes as writing material, but I hardly read them again. Perhaps I’ll be able to look back on it several years after Berserk’s serialization is over.

Page 1, image caption: Thanks to digital work, he could draw more precisely. Background characters, backgrounds and even minute details… The things he could express had been expanded.
