The origins of a name

How do you call the leader of Tudor's Purple Rhino Knights? Boscone? Boscorn? Boscogne? Well, the likeliest spelling for it is actually Boskone.

That name comes from the Lensman series, a science fiction series by Edward E. Smith that was published in the 1930s to 1950s. It refers to a group of evil space pirates (yes, this is classic space opera) who act as the main antagonists for most of the story.

The series experienced a resurgence in Japan when it was adapted into an animated movie (released in 1984) and a TV series (broadcast in 1985). These were not especially faithful to the books, but the villains remained the same. In Japanese, that name was transcribed as "ボスコーン". The same spelling than in Berserk.
