Miyako Station
Added 2024-05-03 13:00:10 +0000 UTCThe reason Miyako Island (宮古島) always needs the "Island" suffix is that there is a wholly unrelated Miyako City (宮古市) in the northeastern Iwate Prefcture. This one is also seaboard and is probably better known to Tokyoites than the Island due to its proximity.
The manga panel (Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Koen-mae) is from 1979. They are supposed to be the same places but a lot has changed during the 45 years...
