"I'll go find them."
Aya said. After taking a quick deep breath, she rose and swiftly dove from the bunk beside Chihaya into the surface below.
"Aya!"
Chihaya called out and looked down where Aya had made a splash. But as the ripples faded, her tanned body or her navy-blue swimsuit were nowhere to be seen.
At first, Chihaya thought she would dive and follow, but since Aya was quite familiar with the interiors of the ship, Chihaya might end up to be just a hindrance within the narrow passageways. Maybe not a good idea. Chihaya glanced at the analog waterproof watch she wore on her wrist, noting that its second hand was moving fine after her wrangling journey. She removed it from her arm and started to time Aya’s dive.
"If you’re down too long, I'll go get you," Chihaya said to the still water beneath her feet. To her mild disappointment, she noted her voice was shaken.
(One minute thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three….)
The water below remained calm. Aya being such a fast swimmer as she was, she should have made a trip to the mess hall and back.
That is, if nothing has gone wrong.

Chihaya became worried as she counted Aya up. Was she drowning, in some dark corners inside the ship? That would be -
