Any Good Fantasy Reads?
Added 2023-09-20 13:00:06 +0000 UTCI wonder if there would be a good fantasy (i.e. sword and sorcery type stuff) novel or manga that is worth reading. I have tried quite a few manga in this genre, but usually, after the protagonist gets hit by a truck and reincarnated in a fantastic alternate world, the first few episodes are fairly engaging but then the plot becomes dull and cliché. Typically it will eventually come down to doing errands for someone or being dragged into power struggle between some noble warring people with a few lightly clothed chicks thrown here and there. Any better suggestions? :-)
You might say just to go to LOTR (The Lord of the Rings) instead of any one of its later knockoffs, but what I don't enjoy about this divine classic is that the initial traveling party gets quickly disbanded and then it essentially becomes tales of struggles of each man against self and his fate. Maybe that's how life works - but I'd rather see some Fellowship in working, as the title of the first volume suggests. I know European comic books have great reputation in this fantasy genre, but sadly I have no knowledge and am more than happy for new acquaintances XD

Which is a spin off of the light novel Danmachi, or as it’s also know as Is it wrong to try and pick up girls in a dungeon?. I first saw the anime but the world was so interesting that I did start to read the mangas and even a light novel. The setting of the story is a world where the gods walks alongside man. They did descend to the mortal plane to experience life with the mortals instead of living perfect lives in heaven. So they have sworn off most of their divine gifts. They each form groups called familias where one deity bless a adventure with fauna. That makes them much stronger then usual guys. They use this power to explore a giant dungeon under the city that they live. And adventuring in the dungeon is how society work. But it’s a dangerous job with many causalities. The main show we follow a boy named Bell and how he grows to become a hero. And the difficult decision that he will have to make to prove himself as one. Not only to everyone else but also to himself. He also is in loved with an adventure from a rival familia that he want to be strong enough to be with. And in the spin off story we follow that rival familia. Where we see how one of the largest familias operate as opposed to Bell’s who are much more humble
