Sacrifice Girl Oyoshi 2

(Cont’d) the custom of offering human sacrifices for successful civil works ventures was not too uncommon back in the days, but Oyoshi is a bit unique that she currently has her own X (Twitter) account and has people selling merch under her name. The promoters have even tried to make her an official mascot of the modern City of Gujo-Hachiman, but the city turned that down, which has made Oyoshi a well recognized but still an unofficial symbol girl. I initially thought the reason for the rejection had something to do with propriety or human rights, considering her story, but the actual issue that the administrators cited was that the character design appeared too sexual. Really?

Anyways, I still think Oyoshi is cute and at the same time Gujo-Hachiman is a great venue for traveling in the countryside - they have this festival every summer where people engage in the “Gujo Dance” all night and for days on end. Gujo also has lots of whitewater fishing places and skiing slopes during the winter, and it is in all a beautiful castle town.

Aoshima Megu, Yes! I always think this is too pity that she was disproved. And I wondered what Aster and Saver thought about the character. BTW I introduce another ama girl diver mascot in Japan : Toba Ayami (鳥羽亜矢海) , one character in hot spring anthropomorphism project 'Onsen Musume'. She is the anthropomorphic and mascot of Toba hot spring. https://onsen-musume.jp/character/toba_ayami https://onsen-musume.jp/story/52981
