Unlike the large metropolis like NYC or LA, cities in the U.S. Midwest tend to be very compact in size - and standing in the city center you can look around and tell where the downtown begins and ends, and can also get rough coordinates of where you are with respect to its larger buildings and other landmarks. City of Detroit is no exception, and David Whitney Building (now and hotel where Saki and her dad Nate are currently staying) and Broderick Tower across the street are such examples. Adjacent to the rim of Grand Circus Park, the two stood out like gatekeepers to downtown, markedly visible from Comerica Park during the games - soaring but somewhat gloomy, as their floors were visibly empty and have remained as such for a good majority of their lives. However, the fact that they’ve recently been refurbished and put to new use bring a sense of hope and resurgence to residents of Detroit metro. - Even when you are not performing, you are never obsolete. You’re just a womb waiting for your next chance.
