Vexillolog...what??
Added 2023-07-19 13:00:07 +0000 UTCThere are a handful of YouTube channels that feature study of flags (vexillology) of the world (including CGP Grey, that I cited some time ago), and they surprisingly share a very similar message. They claim that flags should be simple and have meaningful symbolism - and decide to poke fun at designs they consider hideous, especially some of the U.S. state flags that are too mundane, messy, or in lack of character (these are referred to as "seals on bed sheets.")
Well, as different peoples and cultures would have different tastes, and thus have varying ideas about what their flags should be, I don't necessarily think these channels are in the right. But one thing I do like is that they somehow always glorify and immortalize the flag of Japan (which would often be on the thumbnail) as well as the flags of Japan's 47 prefectures which makes me immensely proud. So, with any flag-spert judgment aside, these are the contents that I sometimes turn to on a lonely night to seek consolation :-)

Bangladesh and Palau have very similar flags (although Palau‘s has a moon, not a sun)
