Many voices are heard over the endeavor's poor planning and subpar engineering. However, it is also true that the boundaries of man are thrust forward by who those put themselves behind the steering device, not by the wealthy critiques who speak from the comfort of their homes.
(Btw, did James Cameron decide to wait out going on TV until he knew exactly what had happened?)

I assume it would have been too cruel for the families to reveal about that implosion from the get-go when the search was still on.
