After Show: Really old drum catalogue

No really, it smells like old.

After Show: Really old drum catalogue

Comments

my teacher had me play that capazolli “around the kit” book and it was so much fun

Don't call me Big Kevin. You're not my dad

Bro the first two names, Steven and Kevo literally are my pets... Steven, the goat that broke my nose, and kevin, the sugar-charged 8 year old equivalent Dalmatian.

Jzawo English

aww! so cool to see ya so dang happy about these. Also I NEED ALL THE BEATLES BOOKS

Hearing you geek out over Tito Puente (and everything else) was so fun!!!

Zippy

mmm drums

Anezlol

man this was cool would love to see more stuff like this!

hey dank, what’s your go-to pair of sticks for general use/practice?

greathorn artworks

1:56 I swear to god my low budget small town high school use that EXACT bass drum

4:12 “GUITER”

If you’re reading this Wade I wanna say thank you so much for helping me get back into drums. I used to play and now I’m finally starting again. I got my old drum set back up and everything!

Goddamn do I love Slingerland drums. My main snare is an old steel student 14x5 model with a Kevlar marching head on top of a hazy diplomat snare side. It has absolutely no ringyness like other steel snares I've heard.

"Sorry for geeking out." Apology not accepted, stuff like this is the reason you get my dollerydoo. I implore you, geek out more!

Really? I heard from mrwhosetheboss it sounded about the same or better than airpods pros.

Misterfrunkwaist

Everyone else has said it but this is entertaining and interesting to watch! Personally i love old catalogs for the design side. I just love those old fonts and shapes and colors! :)

I have a massive catalog of Montgomery Ward from 1964 and every one of the “pictures” of the guitars are illustrated lol

as a drummer i`ve watched the purdie shuffle video so many times i love it

Christopher Maassen

Being puertorican, It just hit me how big Tito Puente was. My dad played(trumpet) on his 100th LP live dvd. That’s pretty nuts. https://youtu.be/9_eTwPUUKeU (Video of the dvd; there’s a bunch of brief closeups of my dad during the song at 7:33)

Jason Montgomery

Yaassss SEXY Billy Kreutzmann. He drummed the THE REAL Scarlet/Fire! Fucking love The Dead. I’m one of only 10 Scottish cunts that do 😅

I suggest Slipknot for some great drumming. The songs 'sic', 'duality', and 'before i forget' are mighty scrumptious. Also, 'Blind' by Korn has some low bass and some high hats

Does anyone know if he has any plans to review the Samsung juke? It was my phone in HS and it’s right up his ally

Frank Wolf? 😳

Could you take a look at the nothing ear 1 earphones? It seems like another rays con type situation where it was way over hyped and then when it was released it was bad

This is reeken of the OLDS, love your vids.

Aww man this has sparked a little love back for drumming for me NGL <3

Chempanda

Please do a review on the Sony XM5s when they come out!

there's a drummer on youtube called junna, I'd love to see you do a video reaction on her lol :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp-_mwTeIpY&ab_channel=JUNNA

I played percussion in middle school and the drum set was always my favorite to play. I could probably play around on one today but idk how good it would sound

Michael

Creators are typically good about responding to Patreon messages in my limited experience :)

I've had some of those old 60's guitars and basses. Very junky. They didn't even use nice plywood.

Very nice Pcell's you got there🤣 but seriously this is very interesting to see. As a kid I had Pearl Drums.. but I sucked🤣

This was so much fun. I love watching you geek out. Hell yes more please.

The Ferret

Yes I did realise that and I messaged him. My bad. Didn’t think Patreon would have an option like that. Hope he gets back to me

I think you can message him on Patreon?

tails618

Half way through I can't stop thinking of the drums in the song Take Five. My dad was a Dave Brubeck fan, and I played drums in high school. My fav sticks were 747s with wood tips. Yup, drum geek.

Mark Grigoleit

Mr. pod, I have found something that I think you’d enjoy reviewing/adding to the horde. Is there any way to contact you? Tried finding a business email or something but I couldn’t

Don't apologize for geeking out, that's what I'm here for.

Chef Oso

JORN

H I F I C Y M B A L S

Just now getting to watch the video, loved the geeking out over the drum ads. That Zildjian set-up guide was so cool!

as a fellow drummer.. i yelped at the title <3

More please.

Kian Ryan

mmmmmm Vater drumsticks mmmmmmm yeah

Mate, you totally need to get some 60s drum gear for the warehouse.

I really liked this look into vintage drums.

Thomas Schrader

I don’t give a crap about drums… But I also don’t give a crap about iPods! I love this!!!

Joe Arnold

This isn't iPods🤔🤔

Larserik

no more ipod videos :( not so many videos its boring but maybe a re-visit of what brought us here :)

Dylan C

We store my grandad's old kit from the 60s in our house and I swear I saw every piece from that kit in this manual, down to the pedal

I'm just getting started on the drums personally, so this was great fun to me.

I dont do drums but this was incredibly fun to watch

2002 honda crv

Oh, my PKCell’s

amogus ipod when

I knew I was due one eventually.

Not a bad idea...

This made me wish i had never sold my acoustic drum kits and replaced them with an electric kit, though I'm sure if i switched back to acoustic i would quickly remember why i wanted the electric kit in the first place.... 2am drum sessions ftw!

Webbysaurus

Never apologise! for geeking out! this is why we are here!

Dave Davies

Drum geeking, oh yes please.

José Jacob

So when can we expect the drum kit tour patreon special????

More drum geeking please

Joshua Howard

DANK MANNNNN WHAT HAVE YOU DONE I JUST ORDERED DRUMSTICKS I ALREADY AM SUPPOSED TO PLAY 2 INSTRUMENTS GOD DAMNIT

I was honestly grinning ear to ear watching this video, your passion is infectious.

Rusticity

More drum geeking I love it.

Quick question: what's a good wireless headset over the head that I can buy that's under 100 bucks? Mine broke and need a suggestions since you are so smart with audio stuff :D if you don't mind or any patrons that can help, please.

Love your channel and all your vids. I'm so happy the youtube algorithm brought me to you. been watching you for months :D

I'd never had any success learning to play the drums, but it's always so wonderful to see someone talk about something they love. The joy is contagious.

We are now just waiting for PKCELL to take over the show

Azguella

Please more stuff like this. As a music producer/live sound mixer I love stuff like this.

Scott Vogel

I would love more videos on drum history.

Ehm... PKcells!

The beauty of percussions is that you really can hit anything. I really like the sound an acoustic guitar makes when you tap on its back. Even used it in a recording once, much to the dismay of my guitar player

BILLY KREUTZMANN?? THE DEAD??? I will always like a wild Grateful Dead reference.

“I’m sure you never wanna see them again.” You assume too much, sir.

You'll never want to see these again! LET ME BE THE JUDGE OF THAT!!! Though for real this is fascinating to the outsider :V

Huge fan of videos that are just you nerding out over music stuff.

Karen Sykora

PKCELL

That was awwwwesome! Love it! Haha... it was funny when you saw the Beatles stuff I was having the exact same thought! 🤣

Right? It sounds SO crisp.

Honestly, I could use a dankpods drum channel for long form drumming videos. Great stuff!

Not nerding it's called passion

seeing those Hagstrom guitars made me happy\

I would love to see an aftershow where you give us a quick tour of the streaming setup. Really curious how you're managing to capture the drum audio in a warehouse so clearly.

Not a drummer myself (I do sound, computers, and lighting), but I sure do know one! He's gonna love this video! Now when do we hit soundboards? :P

As someone who's done a fair bit on live sound, the history of music production/tech is something I'll always be interested in. Keep showing us nerd stuff, we're all giant audio nerds (or just here for the chaotic vibe. Either is good.)

I imagine Neil Peart was building his own kit back in the '60's.

I have some vintage Gene Krupa slingerland drumsticks from my Grandfather way back in the day. fun stuff

John Michael

love drum content and pkcells

Apologizing for geeking out. I got jealous over my teachers 70 year old sax mouthpiece

This was awesome to watch! My dad is a life-long drummer and talks about it all the time! Definitely going to show him this

Devin Burton

NEVER apologize for sharing your passion, this was entertaining as hell. ...tips hat

MoultrieGeeks

big kevin vs lil' kev from kersal massive who wins

As a drummer myself I do genuinely enjoy this. I also love advertisements from the 50s and 60s cause they made everything "sparkle" for some reason.

Cruise Control

I would listen to you drum geek out and never get bored that was so interesting

Love the ending “Pkcells!”

YJ Choi

I've actually played that same Slingerland kick pedal a fair bit. Surprisingly held up quite well and is a bit more honest to your technique than some newer pedals because of the rounded cam.

Yoooo keep sharing the stuff you're passionate about! That's what I love is your ENERGY

Loonie Lummox

25 dollarydoos for a pair of drum sticks? That's unpossible

I’d love to see more drum content!

4:12 Why do I suddenly want to learn how to play Beatles songs on a guiter?

OzRetrocomp

This was super fun! Always been a fan of vintage catalogs, and it's cool to see how drums have changed. I wouldn't mind seeing more lf this at all!

William Pamblanco

keep geeking out!! as long as youre enjoying it man p k c e l l s

Seeing just how janky '50s stands and pedals were gives me even more respect for drummers like Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich.

OzRetrocomp

I agree with everyone here, we liked the drum geek video. I think it would also be cool to do a video in the future if you can get your hands on some old equipment like that and show us side by side, the quality and sound improvements we've made over the past 60 years.

Curtis Duncan

i loved this so much

These videos were really fun, it's cool to learn about drums through how they've changed from the 60's. Would love more drum content in the future

notFullyCoping

Personally I don’t mind you geeking out! It’s great to hear you being passionate about anything, nuggets or drums

Thank you from drum geeking out! That was awesome. I just got a drum kit this year. You've been playing for 20 years, while my inner drummer was crying loudly for those 20. But I finally have them and I love it. Can't wait till tomorrow to check out your stream. Perfect afternoon timing for me over in Texas.

"Ride" cymbals are called that because they were invented by MC Ride

Mahmoud Nofal

Pease give us more drum content!! Today's vid was so good. Also Frank is looking so fresh and pretty

You know if you look hard enough you can find a Corvette for about 500 bucks, granted it's going to be cooked, and a 1984 Crossfire, but hey cheap Corvette and A E S T H E T I C S

JokersJuicyAss

I dunno - that frank fellow sounds rather trustworthy!

That old pair of drumsticks for $1.95, if you adjust that for inflation it comes out to ~$19 USD today, so yours are actually less expensive comparatively, funnily enough edit - and I just got to the revelation it's 60s, which would put it closer to $15-16

nova++

This is the internet dude. You don't need an excuse to geek out over anything

It's my first new after show episode

As someone who started drumming on his dad's old 70's era Luwdig, I can confirm that the hardware is ABSOLUTE. TRASH. Basically thin metal twigs.

Jeremy Abel

I always use the youtube subscriptions page and just check it regularly when I feel like watching stuff, I have bad luck with notifications for this sort of thing in general

nova++

Mate same. I’m German and hungry but because of dank I’m now I’m aussie

Wade in his element, perfect^^

Jan Kösters

I won’t lie, these Patreon notifications are pretty much the only way I know you upload a video because despite having the bell enabled on your channel YouTube never pushes a notification :/

NA-NO

Aisback

Dude, love that old stuff. The oldest I have is a 71 Ludwig.
