holy shit this thing has the exact same UI as the hello kitty mp3 player my grandma bought me from sears one christmas when I was 7 or so. this video took me back, good memories with that thing. lasted me not even half a year before it kicked the bucket on its own terms (shocking I know) and my dad took me to costco and bought me a sony walkman mp3 with an included speaker. the nugget is still in my drawer nearly 10 years later and has survived enough drops on hard concrete that I'm convinced it can survive nuclear fallout. thanks to the mp34 player, I can reminisce on my pre-walkman days of listening to taylor swift's fearless album with crappy buds while my mom drives me to dance class.

What happened to the MoJo?

The "Format Error" is due to how Apple decided their filesystem should work. iOS and MacOS both create the file, and a metadata file, which is just the same file name with ._ at the start. The nugget goes to autoplay the images like a slideshow, and it tries to read the metadata file as an actual image, which it obviously can't do, therefore it spits out an error. I know this because I had a painful experience trying to put songs on my old bootleg RCA mp3 player with mac computers, because that MP3 player would handle the ._ files by completely breaking and either stopping music playback altogether, or skipping to a random track.

That format error you get from time to time is it trying to open the next photo but the mac puts a hidden file (with a dot at the beginning) which contains icon information and the reader isnt smart enough to know to ignore that so it tries to show the hidden file which isnt actually a jpg. FYI

For 'computer' reasons, it seems that for every 'foo.jpg' file he adds, it also adds a '.foo.jpg' file to the folder that is just some extra data and is meant to be hidden, it's not a jpeg file. Then the nuggets view images in a slideshow for some reason, so it shows bitey Frank, then goes on to the next file which is the junk data which fails to load.

Sounds like they were probably designed for older phones. A bunch of phones from the mid 00's (including some older Android phones) used those weird mini/microUSB headphones instead of a 3.5mm jack.

It has the screen shape of a 4th and 5th gen nano, but the squareness of a 1st and second gen. So it’s practically knocking off 2 different iPods. Since the 1st and second gen are almost the same, and the 4th and 5th are very similar as well

Also, Dank, you said that there are nuggets that don't show up on the iMac, I'm assuming it's because they show up as MTP instead of a regular usb stick. You need software for a Mac to work with a MTP thing. Or just use the Eeepeecee. Windows supports by default.
