If you find any reference to 2085 (like on the CD), it's most likely based on the Actions ATJ2085 chip which 99% of these players refer to themselves as an "S1 Mp3 Player" by "Wilson Co. Ltd.". I used to work on a project to make replacement firmware for them, but the project never really go off the ground due to the many inconsistencies between those cheap devices. We did, however, manage to figure out how to repair them if the wrong firmware was flashed to them, as well as create some tools to modify the players. We also managed to get a hold of the source code (which had to be modified for each player model). One thing to note though, when they started putting colour screens in and branding them as "MP4" players (which really meant it played one of two proprietary formats: MTV/AMV - MP4 being "one better" then MP3), the interface ended up a really slow, janky, mess as the ATJ2085 really wasn't up to the job.

I can absolutely vouch for the samsons, at least the ones he talked about, amazing budget semi-open backs!

When I worked at Best Buy in the States we sold $40 Visual Land Android tablets. I do not have high hopes for this player.

On PC I was able to click through to YouTube and get 1080p60, so it's definitely working. Not sure what the embedded player is doing though.

Is there anywhere you can get KZ ES4 Cables that terminate in a USB-C connector? I've been temped to order myself and girlfriend a set each but my S20 FE only has a USB-C connector and no 3.5mm jack. I'm not a fan of dongles, unless I got that AMP dongle but that's adding more expense etc etc. EDIT: I'm in UK.

Visual Land is still kicking and makes extremely low end Android tablets. I work in a phone/tablet repair shop, and once in a horrid blue moon someone will cart one of them in with the screen smashed to bits and tell us they want it fixed. The devices are so low grade that replacement parts for them just don’t exist. They’re so cheaply made that they’re disposable.
