Genuinely wondering what Nickelodeon was thinking with that spongebob line of products. Like I know their thing used to be that gross aesthetic but... that’s just downright terrifying. Imagine getting a pair of those sponge bob speakers with your new spongepod (which is round when sponge bob is square) on Christmas. Probably every kid who did cried.

oh right i have patreon i can get the DELUXE FACE EYES COMMENT ATTENTION PLATINUM EDITION™ here with my comment about installing devices in XP. pasta follows. maybe people in the YouTube plebian comments section can use it so I'm gonna leave it there anyway <3 okay i really need to bestow this wisdom upon you when you see a "found new hardware" wizard in XP... don't cancel it. unless you want it to come back. canceling it literally makes the device remain "entirely not installed" so the system doesn't even know you don't have a driver for it. click "no, not this time" if you're not online or don't think Windows Update will have a driver for it (sometimes it does, but it takes like 5 minutes to scan WU) let it scan automatically after that. IT MIGHT HAVE A DRIVER, but the one it's thinking of might be unsigned, so it pops up a "??R u sure u wan dis unsigned driver??" dialog (big woop, say yes), and that's the entire reason it's asking... but you won't know unless you click through it. if it doesn't, sad panda, it'll stay "unknown" (yellow question mark) in the Device Manager (start/run or WinKey+R, devmgmt.msc, ok), and you can install the driver from there later, but from now on it'll stay out of your face when you plug it in (won't pop up "found new hardware" ever again). if it does, good news, you're in business protip: you can sometimes look up the Details tab of the thing in Device Manager to get its hardware ID (looks like "USB\VID_1AFE&PID_BEEF" in one of those things like "Device Instance Path" or "Compatible IDs") and you can Google that to find a driver. JUST DON'T CANCEL THE DAMN THING OKAY? ♥

Weirdly, I distinctly remember the Tesco own-brand electronics having one of these that had a completely different design around the same layout of buttons etc. (So presumably basically the same internals design) and even though it had a different case design entirely (it had that weird faux-premium soft touch black plastic thing going on) it too had the bizarre fake button on the front. Why did all these companies think we needed the appearance of a button on the front, but not actually put a button there?
