I love the old school dank videos when we wasnt so over the top with reactions, screaming and shit. good times.

I think he was referring to the one filmed on the green ipod nano with the built-in camera. That one swelled up enough to push the glass out.

I did not find an episode where these ipods nearly caugt on fire 🧐

my 2nd gen got ran over by a car, and still worked.

got a red one from a pawn shop for a single freedom eagle, loaded that boy up and use it for roadtrips

Mmaauuraa

I LOVED my 2nd Gen. Such a nice thing.

Matt Stanford

Yup

Finally got my money together and was able to pay this beautiful man a dollar. You videos have been such a joy man keep it up!

Save as it it's a BEAUTY

Leave it with the wear! Don't restore, it has more soul this way

I still use the ole' square nano with the clock app as my "smart watch". Lol. Best 50 bucks on ebay I've ever spent

I swear, those nanos were indestructible. I've had mine since2007. I drive a 2010 Jaguar(trust me, thats not a flex lol), but Rovers/Jag from that year had 30 pin cables, built in to the center console. This nano has been living, hooked up to that 30 pin for the last 4 years. That nano is on it's 5th or so life at this point. Backlight works, hold charge, still makes the clickwheel noise. But looks like your bothers nano. I will forever crown the 2ng gen Nano as the best ipod of all time.

i love you dankpods you are my one of only

Restore? No no, she's gotta be preserved. Let her wear those battle scars as a badge of pride to show off too the world

I would love a restore of it. Just keep the old casing :D

najtrows

Well, the new iPhone is very durable. Especially compared to its competition. Of course, it's not a slab of aluminium like it used to be, but it's really good for what it is.

yet apple nowadays break from a blow of wind

BandBane

deffinatly leave it as is, its like history "the story of the strongest nano"

It's so funny to me how hit or miss nanos were as far as durability. My first iPod was a 4th gen and that thing got dropped so many times off of the bleachers during school basketball games and was lost in the snow for like a week and never had any issues

Stephen Taubner

leave it the same

Buddy of mine had a first gen Nano. He tripped outside and dropped it in the dark one night. Found like like an entire YEAR later after a very snowy winter just under the edge of a set of stairs. STILL WORKED! I wish Apple still built things that well

I just subbed am I’m right there with you!

Just subbed to this Patreon, and now I got an entire catalog of vids to binge watch. I can feel it in me loins, I am excited baybeee

I would not restore it. It looks great as it is, in the sense that it shows its patina

The 2nd gen nano was the first one that ive ever owned, pretty sure its still working in a drawer somewhere, remember etching my name into it with one of those carving pens

Ezra

Time to binge the episodes XP enjoy the cheddar-mite scroll <3

Honestly it doesn't need to be restored with the fact that it still works perfectly

I wouldn't restore it. There is so much history to it and it still works.

Had a first gen nano, but died after about a year of having it.. Just stopped turning on one day. Battery might have just crapped out, or something...

MerkinMcGee

Aye, same about making a patreon just for our Aussie fella here. I even started spreading the word.

First I wanna say that I made a Patreon just for dankpods. I literally never considered patreon for any other youtuber. Second I wanna say that I have a 2nd gen nano that I got at a garage sale for 15 freedom bucks. The hold button has been worn down and it's smooth now and it's covered in scratches and dents. When I plugged it into my computer and looked at the stats for the ipod it says the most listened to song was listened to like 600 times. The battery is still really good too.

Just became a patron, right... YOU ALL KNEW FROM THE START HE HAD THE ZUNE??? I'm so surprised nobody leaked it!

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. It's been some time since I've heard them

I almost don’t want you to restore it... I think what makes him special is the fact he’s lived this long the way he is <3

My sister had one of these (2G Nanos) and I managed to find it while at my parents' but sadly it had succumbed to the ol' swelling battery screen crack :'(

Face Down (acoustic) had a special place in my heart

Kieran Macdonald

Face Down (acoustic) has a special llabe j

Thanks to your videos, not only I want to try using an iPod now, but I also started going to Cashies. And I found a nano on cashies for 10 bucks... damn.

you should plug that green nano into a 30 ft cable out in a field and watch it explode from a safe difference. might make a good PSA on how dangerous those batteries are.

is the audio crackly for anyone else?

Noah Ali

have you got that watch kit yet? I'd love to see it in a vid

Just went back and watched this, we have some real atom bombs of videos coming

This was uploaded a day before my 23rd birthday. Guess this is a belated early gift.

i think this ipod is apple's nokia 3310. not very powerful, but could take a bullet.

They are crazy thin even today, they look really unassuming on video/photos but in your hands they are STILL super nice to use. If they don't catch fire that is.

I think almost EVERYBODY had a 2nd gen Nano. They were so popular at the time. I spent $400 on the highest capacity 8GB Nano back in 2007. Still own it, it's got some minor scratches and the click wheel is finicky. Doesn't want to turn off. But hey, it's 13 years old and the chungus WORKS!

Matthew Dunlop

you shouldnt restore it, its scares are history. i just cant get over how you flushed your ipod lol

FireStriker

omg a zune

coolmedina117

That zune vid is gonna be a treat. Gonna get popcorn and everything

My coke music is long dead it seams

I’d rather leave it original and unrestored. Wear and patina is history and individuality. Like RCR once said, “battle wounds are the oldest form of storytelling”.

ManMachine

ooo i like secrets

Oh man, looking forward to that Zune video. I've never even seen one in real life, I need this video.

Mars1811

Yeah I reckon you should leave it be, great authentic piece of history. I remember everyone sharing those around on the school bus on long trips.

James T

It's really a shame with the nanos and touches. I love them both but Apple clearly had to be jerks and solder the batteries. Thankfully from binging Rossmann and practicing I've gotten decent at soldering, but still... I have three touches that are 10+ years old and both still have good batteries but I know it's only a matter of time. And I've wanted to get a 3rd gen nano to restore but apparently they're also a pain to work on.

xodium

The wife and I watched this one. I miss my old white first gen and she LOVED her 3rd gen. You've definitely gotten us back into iPods! Loved this video as always!

Eric

I joined for the secret, still rocking my black 30.

Winston R. Milling

uh oh... i might not be able to keep a secret.

I have a 7th Feb nano, bought it in 2011ish, for £50, a lot of fun!

Oh hell yes I can keep a secret.

Don’t restore it podsy, It’ll lose all its history and sentiment. It’ll just be a regular nano if you restore it. Plus you don’t want to mess with something that’s not broke.

oh my god, the mad lads done it. He bought a bloody zune. My heart is happy.

that is nice wakeup to 2 dankpod video XD

Ayyyy, glad to hear about the watch strap on the way for the 6th gen nano! Looking forward to that vid a lot 😄

Harrison Wells

Nope, in the discord we've had one person manage to put 64GB in a 3rd gen nano

because of the recall, there aren't as many left

That's why I got rid of my 7th gen nano, I was constantly leaving it in my pockets and it got close to going through the wash in the first few weeks I had it.

im looking forward to that last thing, hopefully you make it something awesome. also is it possible to add memory to those 6th/7th gen nanos?

I do love the 3rd gen nano, it’s like a pico iPod video

So when can we expect to see the Shrekpod nano??

Excited for the secret, as someone that got rid of their Nano back in the day for a Zune (because yeah, it just wasn’t enough music for me). Still boots as of the last time I tested it (sometime last year) - though I can only imagine the sync app has got harder to find/run.

Charles (Dex)

I Had 3 shuffles as the only Ipods I ever had. I had an obsession with podcasts. Eventually moved to a podcatching App on my phone

Tom Williams

As someone who spent lots of time with the Clip+, I have to say, good luck with the headphone jack. I worn mine out, the clip got broken, the headphone jack had to be repaired at least three times and no amounts of tape would hold it together. Also the screen at some point just gave up, so I need to knock on it from time to time to see anything. But man if that thing with the rockbox wasn't such a great little thing when it worked. I know I should've just bought lots of them, but they stopped selling Rockbox-able Sansas a while ago... iPod it is, I guess!

Ilya Ryabtsev

I bought the iPod with the camera for my dad last year for Christmas because I thought it was cool with the camera and now I hear it’ll do this lol, a year too late xD. I’ll just get him the 7th gen nano when it breaks eventually

Leave it. Crazy that it still works! See how long it lives, then restore it.

Haynes Humphries

My Nano 2G also has godly battery life. And no black spot (yet)! My only complaints are the measly storage and something about the sound quality makes it sound really bad with my drums. Still nice to take around though!

Joey Pepperoni

my vote is to leave it as is; lots of memories there!

1st Gen Nanners are so EXPENSIVE! Why!

I am so ready for patron stuffffffffffff

2G nanos are heaps nice, I love them. Maybe worth trying to get a new battery in it? I don't think it would be too expensive for someone who knows what they are doing...

Sadly it turns out it happens to them too! A few folks mentioned in the YT comments...

Everyone keep the secret

cashuuu

Oh man, I just bought a 2nd gen nano. My childhood one was stolen from my house by some jerk neighbor kid. After seeing your vid, tho... gonna be careful

Iv got a nano 7th gen and the battery does some funky things. Sometimes it just dies out of nowhere but its ok for the most part.

when you said that your nano 3rd gen hasn't shown any black parts on the screen that gave me a little hope mine just has a broken back light so i just can't really see playing on it
