As promised, a status update on the Alpine.
Life has been a bit crazy lately, I'm in a relationship (sadly, not ideal for hobbies :D ), a lot of work surrounding my masters studies, the 9 to 5 struggle, family members health.. yada yada.
Anyhow, I've made some big progress on the Alpine despite all that:
The mesh has been optimized after applying subdivisions, it sits pretty at around 355k tris
Almost everything is there, some minor details to go and then it's time to UV map and texture the thing
I've also gone over the overall shape of the car multiple times fixing various areas of the body. I started the project using a (shabby to say the least) blueprint I found online, never ever doing that ever again.
Now, the general plan is, I will in the coming weeks, 2-3, hopefully, try to release this beauty as an Early Access product here on Patreon, for a reasonable price. Of course those Patreons in my highest 2 tiers get the car for free. And to avoid licencing issues, we won't call it an Alpine haha, but, branding packages and skins will be freely available on OverTake.
As to the physics of the car, that's still up in the air. My plan was to do them myself to the best of my (limited) abilities for this release, however, we'll see if I can work out something better. BUT, the car will very likely, almost certainly, end up as part of the WSC60s pack in the future, with physics done by the one and only master, and of course, by then, as every car released by the WSC Legends team, it will be completely free.
The other variations of the Alpine will have to wait a bit sadly. It's a lot of work, A LOT. And to avoid oversaturation with one manufacturer, as soon as the A210 Early Access is out, I will commence work on the Abarth 1300OT to mix things up a bit for the next release.
Cheers!
