I mocked up this little social media poster for our show on the 30th last week. Sara and I have decided to take some time off from gigging this summer, but we have two more live performances before we take a much needed break. The first one is an all-ages show at Badmother, and the second is part of a musical intermission for the Fairbanks Ladies of Wrestling show in May. One for the babies and one for the babes.
My skills as a musician are slowly progressing and I have some fun new sound toys to play with so I'm kind of relieved to have a full 3 month boundary where I can say no to gigs without hemming/hawing about the pros and cons of accepting/denying. Live performance is one of the things I love most about creating, but doing it too often can easily devolve into forgetting to make things for yourself. The snow is melting fast, and that seasonal transition time is fully upon us. The art studio is hemorrhaging water all along the western wall just in time to give our notice that we won't be renewing the lease. Working 50 hour weeks while stubbornly continuing to stick to my projects and make as much art as I can has been deeply exhausting, but I'm so close to not having to do it anymore, it's starting to feel like some change is a'comin'.
Happy Spring~ Stay grounded out there.
