I don't want to bury the lede here, the Very Good News out of my neck of the woods is that I reached the Kickstarter funding goal that I set to produce my 'Zine Storage Boxes. THANK-YOU so much to the many Patrons here who supported me over there. There's still plenty of time left in the campaign if you are maybe curious to become a part of it. I would love, love, love to have more people backing this project. I think it's going to be very cool. I am more than pleased to have raised the money to make these boxes, selfishly, next year when I am hoping to get out to more conventions and festivals to promote my new graphic novel, I think these box sets are going to be some extremely nice things to have available at my table.

All Storage Boxes come with a print and a complimentary 'zine. I have had some folks ask if it's possible to swap out the A Part, Apart comic for something else, since many Patrons here already have the Hidden Dominion companion, and the answer is of course. I absolutely want everyone feeling as happy as possible about this project, and I've got a pretty big back-catalogue to choose from.

Physical copies went out earlier this week, so could start appearing in people's mailboxes as soon as today. Along with the mini, I also sent out Self-Publishing is a Power postcards. These are different than the prints I intend to include with the 'Zine Boxes. I was experimenting with formats, and thought perhaps these things were something I could produce easily through Staples, but I didn't think the quality rose to the level of "print", so I am producing a different higher quality batch through a place called CatPrint that seems to do a very good job and has a decent price point.

I am working on a new cartoon essay that will be incorporated into the October mailing. More on that to come. In the meantime, if you didn't see it already, here's an amusing little strip that I put together to try and call some attention to the Kickstarter on my Instagram. I literally don't know what to do in terms of spreading the word there. Straight-up here's my crowdfunding project posts get very little engagement, cartoons like this, where I sneak the information in to something people are much more likely to read, feels like I'm, again, burying the lede. I think the answer is probably for me to become someone who's better at making sticky little viral video reels, but I really struggle with that.

Thanks for the download! I remember being taught that there were many reasons for the Civil War. And, in certain moods, I even find myself thinking "how come it was okay -- better than okay -- for the 13 colonies to declare independence from Britain but not okay for the South to declare independence from the US?" Arguably we up north wouldn't be suffering our current political nightmare if they'd succeeded. But, yeah, then there would still be legal chattel slavery in the world. I just finished reading "How to Dodge a Cannonball" by Dennard Dayle, a really funny easy-read Civil War novel that asks the question why we can never really finish the project of treating all human beings as people.
