Let's talk about the GENEALOGY tracking / DNA Testing System again
FULL ORIGINAL INFO POST ON WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT
I mentioned this in my post of the new year, but in case you missed it, let me sum this up again. This stuff has been Partially done and sitting in my to do list for now a year, which is getting pretty stressful.
it was in one of its aspects / settings NEARLY releasable already, and has been for all this time. Due to how I've been so far unable to find time to finish it, I worked on making releasable the aspect of it that was already nearly ready as its own thing.
The M04 paternity mod update mentioned in the year-old post linked above has been in the same situation and hopefully will follow with a release soon.
So, What you ARE getting now:
automatic marking of family members: auto track and auto label for you up to great great grandparents / children, second cousins, first cousins twice removed / great grand aunts / nieces, and such. ("Choice A: all Sims automatically have their DNA in the database, and therefore, all relatives known = all relatives in existence.")
+ auto-tracking of 'marital' extended family for sims in committed relationships (not just married)
What You are NOT getting yet:
gameplay of having the sins discover their relatives through DNA testing, as opposed to auto labeling. ("Choice B: only Sims who decide to do DNA testing appear on the SimLines app and therefore only them exist in its database for other sims to find out a connection to them.")
WHY you aren't getting it yet: that system's core is mostly functional and has been for a year, BUT it does not have reactions, social interactions, etc, which are the parts that matter, so it's not ready to ship out.

WHY you aren't getting it yet: just nto done yet, part of all the planned RPO collection expansions
HOW THE FAMILY TRACKING WORKS:
You don't need to do anything particular, just putting the files in your mods folder and launching the game, the system will do its work. For the genetic family part, it will also retroactively apply on your existing sims automatically.
It's been given good testing, but this can be fairly COMPLEX / CONVOLUTED so if you notice problems or hiccups, please report!

Based on poll results:
since responders were near unanimous: added in law ans step family members to relationship panel 'family' tab
since responders were very split on this question: added settings to block (or not) romance between step family and / or in law family (in RPO global settings)
When installing this for the first time, it will retroactively read your exiting Sims to draw up their relationships. If you have huge amounts of Sims with lots of relations to each other, when FIRST loading a particular household after installing, the retroactive assigns can make that load screen longer.
DOWNLOAD:
- remove previous version
- grab the RPO Core Library if you don't have it;
- grab the file from this post and put it directly into your mods folder or one subfolder (it's a .package file, so, not extracting!)

Hi, nobody has reported this before, and now you and another person at once. This is odd and makes me wonder if some other mod has changed to cause this via interference, or if some other broken mod is causing issues. I would need to know more about your exact set up (what other mods you use etc) so we can rule out such interferences. If you are willing to help investigate your situation, come to the Discord server and we can look into all that in depth

2025-08-31 04:21:24 +0000 UTCHi, this mod doesn't modify the family tree, but it does read from it, so if the game bugged out on the tree, it will impact what the mod says. If you can fix up your tree you can then re run the m20 calculations by using 'force recalculate' on the phone menu

2025-04-25 21:47:42 +0000 UTCMy family tree is messed up for one of my sims. Her brother is listed as her Grandmother's brother and a Great Aunt as her sister. Her Mother isn't even listed in family tree. Her Great-grandfather is also listed as her father ( instead of mother) along with her actual father. So now all relationships are wrong, cousins listed as nieces and nephews. I tried to fix with Mccc but correct option are not available. I tried to reset with no luck. This was a same sex female couple who I used a brother as a surrogate. It was always somewhat correct in family tree, but after installing this update it's wrong. everyone else tree seems to be ok, just not this particular sim. Is there a cheat to fix? also could Adeepindigo's "family Connections" be interfering?

2025-04-25 21:11:54 +0000 UTCHi, there are several layers here. First, whatever you see in the family tree - if that's where the issues start, ie, if things look wrong there, your problem is due to EA bugs which are known. Second, you'd have to check also that all your Mods are up to date

2025-03-13 14:59:20 +0000 UTCHi! I'm having an issue with marrying into my sims family and the spouse being considered bio family. Since adding it to my game one of my sims got married and moved out with her spouse. I tried having them adopt a child and when the child was added to the family it saw one sim as a mom and the other as an aunt even though they were spouses not siblings. So I checked the profiles and it considered the in law as a sister and sister in law.

2025-03-13 03:42:48 +0000 UTCHi, there are no known errors, and I'd need to see your report file to be able to say anything about it - if you have Discord and can send it on the server that would be great! It is completely normal to see various EA processes and mods named in an errors detailed log, it only means they ran processes in your game - which they are built to do, so that alone is not an indication of much - one needs to look at the entire file

His half-sisters also have "sister" and "step-sister" in their relationships even though they live in different homes. Is there a way I can force correct this? The son is an infant so he does not have a phone.

Now that the baby is here the father has no milestone of having a baby. And in the relationship panel it says it is his stepdaughter. Do you know why that is?

I usually don’t run into problems but upon updating to the most recent RPO to include modules 20 and 21 my game won’t load…sits on the plumbob screen forever. I made sure not to delete the settings file since I’m updating from 2.9+ When I put my previous version back in everything loaded as usual. The issue only happens when I put this version in. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? Thank you.

As for locations - shower is enabled, maybe the exact shower objects you have are the matter? 🤔 Most Woohoo locations that seem compatible are enabled (the rocket is not because it leaves the ground and isn't click able, for example, but most others are in there)

I don't have WW so it's an awesome upgrade for me. :-) Do you plan on eventually making it available at all woohoo locations? I've been able to use it for the bed and a bush, but the options didn't come up when I tried to have them use the shower. I haven't tried anywhere other than those 3 so far.

2025-01-05 02:03:12 +0000 UTCSo when I first loaded a save file (and got the warning about the JSON), it was the save where I'd had the child support message issue and I did NOT have custom interactions set in that game, so maybe that had something to do with the message I got? I just put the JSON file back in my folder, restarted my game and loaded a save where I had custom interactions set and I did not get the warning message.

I kept it in and when I launched my game it said to remove that file or there could be severe problems. So I did but, obviously, all the custom interactions I had set are now all gone. Will these always need to re-done when there is an update?

Is this something that could be implemented? My sim knows who her grand-aunt is, for example, but when I click to view family members, she doesn't actually show up there. (simsmodelsimmer's mod does add them to that section when you create a family relationship, and I thought this update did the same thing, which is why I thought they might conflict)
