The author of the play, Arthur Miller was cited for contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with the House Un-American Comitee (HUAC) by naming people he met at Communist Party meetings. You can also hear HUAC testimony on the TV in the episode.

They may be confusing for a second, but viewers should be able to understand the story anyway. I like the scene where Angel hides the money in the past, and it transitions to him retrieving the money in the present.
