2024-04-20 20:26:01 +0000 UTCYes, it was a commentary on same sex relationships, and bolder than TNG's episode where the "androgynous" J'nai falls for Riker's rizz, but it was likewise regarded as a really hamfisted and unsatisfactory attempt, pandering to male gaze while another example of the writers waffling around about how much influence a Trill symbiont's past life had on the current host's life. A lot of fans didn't, and still don't, like it much. I do like Susanna Thompson, another actor who played multiple roles in different Trek series.
