2024-03-12 18:11:35 +0000 UTCSo, besides the movies you mentioned, the one most people think of is 'The Talented Mr. Ripley (1997)' with Matt Damon and Jude Law; there is also a 1960 French version called 'Purple Noon' ('Plein Soleil') with Alain Delon. Both are based on the first of six Tom Ripley novel by Patricia Highsmith, who also wrote the novel that Hitchcock's 'Strangers on a Train' is based on. The movie that very few people seem to remember because it has quite undeservedly been forgotten is 1970's 'Something for Everyone' with Angela Lansbury and Michael York, based on Harry Kressing's novel 'The Cook'. I beg you not to look up the movie because the synopses tend to give away too much, but the US poster tag line was "Compared to them, the Macbeths were just plain folks... and the Borgias were a nice Italian family". There are several copies on YouTube, since it isn't on any major streaming service right now; if you don't find it I can send you a link.
