Added 2025-04-08 22:47:52 +0000 UTCHi guys :)
A quick little Patreon update to celebrate the catamaran yet again having working steering π I meant to post this before heading home but the internet at the catamaran is horrible.
Have a fantastic week! π

So where in NC are you heading to? We have our boat docked on the Pamlico Sound. Would love to come visit or help with a project... we are very versed in fiberglass work. We rebuilt the nose of a Catalina 30 after it was smashed in a collision.

2025-04-10 11:22:21 +0000 UTCThanks for the update. Very exciting news! You are definitely on track to get the boat back in the water. Any name yet other than "massive DIY project?"

2025-04-10 09:09:03 +0000 UTCHappy days! Itβs starting to not only look like a boat shaped object, but also act like a boat shaped object. Congratulations on these milestones! The first of many to come.

2025-04-09 16:57:46 +0000 UTCGreat news, Mads. Soon you'll be motoring up the ICW. That outta be fun, and I'm sure you are preparing well. You're getting closer to me, and I can say the weather is definitely better "up here" in the summer. It'll still get hot, but not consistently sweltering at least. Oh and I'll warn the natives that a pleasant Danish chap and his lovely wife are on the way.

2025-04-09 04:30:53 +0000 UTCGiven I have no experience in anti foul and for such a short trip why is it necessary to add anti foul at all. The boat in going to in the water for less than a couple of weeks while you take it up the ICW I wouldn't think it would cause too many issues over this short period of time.

2025-04-09 02:44:46 +0000 UTCWhen you get to Oriental will the boat be in the water or on the hard? If it will be out of the water, I wouldn't put anything on the bottom. You'll get some slime while you go up the ICW, that will come off with a good pressure wash. Any small barnacles can just be scraped off.

2025-04-09 00:08:38 +0000 UTCMy Predator frequently requires starter fluid to crank. Works fine otherwise.

2025-04-08 23:39:30 +0000 UTCThere are still a lot of variables. Transport being one, insurance being another - both things that to some extent are outside of my control. I hope we can have the boat ready to move in early June :)

2025-04-08 23:37:38 +0000 UTCSuper congrats on the steering! Looks like your generator is dual fuel? We have one back in Colorado and we run it on propane - no gummed up carburetor! You are making awesome progress!!

2025-04-08 22:58:32 +0000 UTCYes, but Lemar is too expensive. For the price of one gearbox and AP unit from Lewmar I can get a complete steering system from Jefa. I have a really hard time with Lewmar. Between them not making spare parts for our self-tailing winches and how overpriced their products are I'd be surprised if I end up using a single Lewmar product on the catamaran.

2025-04-08 22:51:35 +0000 UTCSurely if you overhaul all the steering components you could develop a sense of trust for the old steering
