EARLY Access [Video] with Brian Armstrong - CEO of Coinbase

Brian Armstrong, born in San Jose, California, is the co-founder and CEO of Coinbase, the largest U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange, which he launched in 2012 with Fred Ehrsam. A Y Combinator alumnus, Armstrong grew up in a middle-class family and earned a B.A. in Economics and Computer Science from Rice University in 2005, followed by an M.S. in Computer Science in 2006.

Before founding Coinbase, he worked as a software engineer at Airbnb, developing anti-fraud tools, and founded UniversityTutor.com, an online tutoring marketplace. Under his leadership, Coinbase went public via direct listing in 2021, reaching a $100 billion valuation. As of 2025, it serves over 110 million users with a market cap of around $60 billion.

A Forbes-listed billionaire with a net worth of approximately $10 billion, Armstrong is a vocal advocate for clear crypto regulation. He founded the Stand With Crypto PAC in 2023 to support pro-crypto politicians, promotes decentralized identity solutions, and has pledged 99% of his wealth to charity through the Giving Pledge.

You had me until the end. There are so many implications to the genetic modifications he’s talking about. Potential for cancer to skyrocket, we know so little about how the body actually works at a cellular level. That’s not even touching on the ethical and moral implications. It reminds me of a move with Justin Timberlake in it “In Time” where the rich are the ones who live forever and subjugate the poor who can’t afford “time”. This doesn’t sound like a good idea to me. This sounds like a gateway to eugenics. Not that you’re actually killing anyone, but the wealthy are living so long and the poor are dying at a relatively quicker rate that the wealthy would begin to control society. It’s not much of a leap to get to this point. Final point, death is not the end. Why is it that we are always trying to come up with some designer drug to erase our personal accountability for the choices we make in life. “If you want to drink more and have the metabolism of a 20 year old” type scenario. Just drink in moderation instead. Make good decisions in life and when your time comes, look towards God and be grateful for the life you’ve been given.

Have a family member who had a hard time using Coinbase. In addition their customer service was not very helpful. They moved on from them. Trust factor dropped so that was that. That said great interview so far (early in to it).

Great interview highlighting some of the positive aspects around crypto..definitely just the tip of the iceberg though…I really encourage SRS team to get someone like Patrick Wood or Aaron Day on the show as it’s crucial for us to fully grasp the flip-side potential ‘loss of freedom’ implications inherent to digitized currencies (CDBCs, etc)…as well as understanding the dangers lurking behind the current rise of technocrats in power. We’ve had a slew of interviews with the new generation of tech innovators/entrepreneurs which has given us great insight into the emerging societal landscape…however, one key aspect missing from my perspective has been any deep dive into the history of technocracy and its recent rise on the world stage, the ever-tightening yet hidden digital leash being accepted without thought by the masses…

It's not difficult to understand. We are intermixing with our environment and I mean inside and out. Only certain phages can pass through our innate (outer border) immune system, and those are different for different environments and people. This creates an irreducible background that will not allow them to succeed in their quest for full spectrum dominance of life. They will fail and, while some advancements are beneficial, they are full of hubris and not trying to help people, but to dominate. I guess programmable money is an analogy and a metaphor for them. So, it makes sense. No fun intended. It's too bad. Such promise all goes to hell with the dominance "gene". What a sucker!
