What many civilian & military people don't understand about being a leader is that being a leader does NOT mean you're the highest ranking individual in the room. Leaders will lead no matter their rank, position or title. YOUR individual effort will be reflected in your competency and your reputation/influence will grow accordingly. People are drawn to those who they feel are doing the right things for the right reasons and who has their back. As a leader if you take care of your people, your people will take care of their tasks.
