Even as project manager it had been difficult to ensure that they had been connected to the support units necessary for their survival, getting replacement 'nites from the nano assembler before it had finally been powered down only a few days ago and all the raw materials they needed to sustain and replicate.
If she'd been efficient she could have wound the entire project up in about a week but she'd deliberately dragged things out so that she could execute her plan on her last day, also to spend time programming the nanites for their new task. She'd had to fit that in between all the administrative make work and various agencies making sure the law was being followed to the letter. The downside to that was the increased chance the nanites would become non viable.
But luck was with her. The naked woman opened the container and lowered her hand into the slick silvery goop inside.
There was a warm tingle over her hand that spread up her forearm, she lifted her hand out of the container and watched in fascination as the silver continued spreading up her arm .....
