May 2025 - Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk
Added 2025-05-02 10:00:09 +0000 UTCHi folks!
This month, work continues on the F-4 guide's radio communication, autopilot and controls sections.
As a side note, I have also begun to fly a bit in the virtual skies of Germany. This is a very, very impressive map with an incredible amount of airports modelled in. There a few issues with it (as expected), but Ugra has a proven track record with the amazing Syria map. I remain optimistic that these issues will be addressed within a reasonable timeframe. Phase 3's expected size on my SSD might prove to be... err... challenging, shall we say.
It is also interesting to see the philosophy differences between East and West Germany when it comes to navigation aids; West Germany airports have VORs, TACANs, VORTACs and a few NDBs sprinkled here and there... while the East Germany airports typically have the Inner & Outer markers that we are used to in maps like the Caucasus. Flying helicopters down low in the Fulda Gap has never been more fun, though... plenty of visual references to navigate to!
I also recently updated start-up procedures for the F/A-18 and F-16 guide to include loading the Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC). I plan on making a DTC-specific section for the relevant modules once the feature becomes fully fleshed out in the Mission Editor.
Stay tuned!
Chuck

2025-05-17 03:22:10 +0000 UTCI will have to check how complete the module is before knowing if I should spend time on it after the Phantom guide's completion. I have seen very little improvements on the module itself in the last patch notes.
