Update 0.941

This update brings something that some of you have been looking forward to for a while: new content for the security guard! He’s been left by the wayside for far too long and so he was in need of a little love. I hope his update brings satisfaction to those of you who’ve been waiting!

After this, I was going to return to Nolow, but it would seem that 🎃Halloween🎃 is already upon us. That means the next update or two will be themed around this glorious holiday, so please look forward to some new and spooky shenanigans in the Festival O’ Feasts.

Additionally, it was brought to my attention that the next version of Quest is in the works and is currently (technically) viable. This new engine allows games to be played in the browser AND offline, with offline mobile support as well. Save files will also work between game versions, so the settings code importer/exporter will no longer be needed. However, there are two caveats: one, the editor is still in development (not a huge deal); and two, since the engine is so different, games made in the current Quest engine can’t simply be transferred to the new one (a very huge deal). There is a converter, but it’s nowhere near perfect and will require a lot of extra work to get the game functional, especially with the amount of content and custom scripts I’ve made. This is a change I’m definitely going to commence at some point, but I feel it might be wise to wait a few months and let the devs work on the converter and possibly also release the editor. Anywho, it’s exciting news and it’ll make Delectable run so much more smoothly, especially for those of you stuck on the online client.

Now, on to the actual patch notes!

• The security guard’s awake-and-sleep cycle has been fully implemented. After you feed yourself to him while he’s sleeping, he’ll begin to swap between the two states each time you enter the security room.
• The security guard has a new scene—as well as a name. To engage in this scene, feed yourself to him while he’s sleeping and then return to him after you’ve reformed. He’ll be awake and have new dialogue as well as an option for him to eat you. It may require you to be a little cheeky, however…
• A new cheat code has been added to skip over his initial sleep-feeding scene, allowing you to immediately engage in his new content. (The code can be found on the usual list with the “new” label.)
