Secret Documents #114: F-16C Guide Update - HARMs and the HTS Pod
Added 2022-01-18 12:00:05 +0000 UTCHi folks!
This week, we take a bite at the HARM missile and its brand new HTS (HARM Targeting System) Pod. We will first touch at the new position modes and how they are used without the HTS pod. We already talked about the HAS (HARM As Sensor) mode previously, but this time we will see what the POS (Position) mode allows you to do. Basically, POS mode requires you select a steerpoint where the target is expected to be, then you attack using the best sub-mode required for the situation; PB (Pre-Briefed), RUK (Range Unknown) or EOM (Equation-of-Motion) sub-modes.

The HTS pod is a passive sensor and offers an incredible advantage when it comes to SEAD missions. It can detect simultaneously a much broader range of radar emitters (which are also customizable), and it will triangulate the position of radar emitters as it gathers information while being "painted" by SAM sites and other threats. The HAD (HARM Attack Display) page is the interface which allows you to select an emitter triangulated by the HTS pod, which you can then attack using any POS HARM mode of your choice. An even cooler feature of the HTS is that designating a target with it allows you to slave other sensors to it, such as the targeting pod. It's a great method to assess damage inflicted on a target you just engaged!
