Secret Documents #101: Mosquito Guide - Fuel Management

Hi folks!

Last time, we talked about the engines and how to keep them running. Another important aspect of the Mossie is that it had an incredibly long range. Its internal fuel tanks could hold up to about 450 imperial gallons, not including 50 or 100 gal drop tanks... and not including an extra long-range tank of 60 gal (which isn't available at the moment) installed in the 20 mm cannon bay. Mossies were sometimes sent as pathfinders for the night bombing raids of the Royal Air Force, which made them incredibly flexible as air assets.

I tried to create a section that is sufficiently concise to be readable... but I couldn't resist including a few tidbits about fuel tank pressurization. There are a few interesting details about the venting cock (which only pressurized outer tanks if drop tank fuel transfer valves were open AND if the outer tanks were emptied enough). I don't know how much of these details are simulated, but I thought it'd be some good bedtime reading if you're into that technical mumbo jumbo.

Feel free to consult the attached pdf to see the draft.
