September 2021 - Month of the Mossie
Added 2021-09-17 17:42:36 +0000 UTCHi folks!
The Mosquito is finally here! This feels like Christmas in September. Time to stock up on coffee and get cracking.

Last month, I managed to slip a few revamped sections for the Harrier's Maverick and part of the Mi-8 radio navigation section. There are a few minor items remaining on my to-do pilot of things to finish for the Harrier guide (like the TOO and WOF button functions on the UFC), but this can wait a few months.

The DCS F-16 has gained a few new toys in the last months, and I am currently working on a few new tutorials for the CBU-105, JDAM and JSOW. There are also a few changes to the INS system and the FCR (Fire Control Radar), which will have to be updated as well. The work is under way, but I would like to release this update with the new Air-to-Ground Radar and the HTS Pod since ED has recently mentioned that work was ongoing for these two systems. In an ideal world, I would like to push an update with all the "big" sensor updates, but I don't want to rush it. I took my time with the Hornet, and I think it paid off. Let's see if I can pull it off with the Viper as well.

The F-5E Tiger II is one of the last few "old" guides. It was last updated in 2016, so I was hoping to polish it and expand it... a bit like I did with the MiG-21 last spring. There are rumors of Eagle Dynamics working on a new cockpit update, so I hope to work on a new version of the guide if such an update is to materialize. I made a bet with Eagle Dynamics Community Manager "Nineline" that I would also update the L-39 guide if the F-5 ever had a facelift... to which I received an enigmatic response. Uh oh...

Lastly, I'm still doing some research on the Apache. This is a long process, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The avionics on this helicopter will be quite challenging to explain properly, so I'm trying out various concepts to see how to better convey information. I think the AH-64 will become "Hornet famous", so I hope to create something that is at least as good as the Mi-24 guide in terms of quality and depth.

Stay tuned!
