April 2021 - En avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil

Hi folks!

The months of March and April turned out to be chock full of unexpected turns.  There is a french saying "En avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil" that basically cautions against being overly optimistic. The english equivalent would be "Ne'er cast a clout til May be out". Postponed patches and rescheduled module releases basically threw a bunch of wrenches in my "grand" plans of earlier this year, so I've had to improvise in order to not waste too much time.

I've spent most of my time pre-writing a bunch of sections for the Hind. The cockpit description and engine sections are in a very advanced state, and I've had time to do enough research to "know what I don't know" about the helicopter. The familiarization process is one of these things that needs to happen and helps you build a mental picture of the cockpit and various systems, and it will significantly help speed things up once the Mi-24 goes live and I have something concrete to work with instead of blurry screenshots taken from youtube videos. For those of you who are waiting for those "secret document" posts... don't worry, they'll be coming back soon enough.

With DCS version 2.7, there's been lots of changes as you may already be aware. Lots of these changes are visual (clouds!) but there is also a lot that's been added to the Hornet among other things. ATFLIR, new HARM modes, new radar modes, new autopilot modes... I've decided to spend the following weeks working on (yet) another Hornet guide update. I wasn't planning on revisiting it for a few months, but since the Hind and Mossie are still in the oven and I have a bit of free time... I thought... why not?

Thanks Chuck!! I don't know where you find the time/energy/motivation to do all these guides. I, for one, REALLY appreciate your willingness to do it! Happy to support you here!
