Takeoff and landing in the Jug is slightly different than with other planes of the era. The landing gear is wide and stable, which makes taxiing and taking off easier than with the narrow landing gear configurations of the Spitfire and Bf109. Landing, on the other hand, requires some careful throttle management. After all, you are landing an eight-ton (when fully loaded) plane. Cut the throttle too quickly and you will rapidly sink to the ground. Too much power and the aircraft will bounce and likely smash your landing gear in the process. I have given a number of speeds, altitude and cues to keep in mind to ensure you make it back home, but I had to practice, practice and practice some more before getting the hang of it. Let's just say I owe the USAAF a couple of busted planes.
