The Way of the Future
Added 2020-05-26 21:52:17 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
Just thought I'd let you guys know on what are the next steps forward. The next months will likely be spent on five things (in no particular order):
- Hornet: bring it up to date once the air-to-ground radar is implemented. As a nice to have, I would also want to include a few notes on the Supercarrier.
- Comms: a brand new guide on how to communicate online. This document's structure is still being worked on, but overall the big picture is to separate it in tasks. One section would talk about how to set up SRS or IVC, another would talk about uncontrolled airspace comms (basically how most DCS multiplayer servers operate), another would talk about controlled airspace comms (i.e. BMS ATC could be used as template), another would be specifically on GCI (Ground Intercept Controller) and another would be on weapon employment (Pickle, Rifle, Fox 3, etc.). I'm still in the research phase, so this could take a while.
- Falcon BMS: This one I'm not 100 % sure I'll do, but I thought that there is a clear need for a written "How To" to use the Dynamic Campaign interface. This won't teach you anything on the F-16 per se, but how to use the interface to "frag" your packages, set up your targets and select your loadout.
- Mirage: Add the latest RAZBAM radar updates.
- Tomcat: include the TWS Auto functionality and the NAVGRID.
After that, the Ka-50 and Viggen updates will likely be the priority. The Viper guide will be updated once more systems are implemented by Eagle Dynamics (which could take a few months).
The last few months were a real rollercoaster in more than a few ways. While ambitious projects are always fun to work on, I think I need to take things a little slower and take smaller bites if I want to stay motivated to come up with new stuff.
Stay safe everyone!
Chuck
