NarraScope Trip Recap

NarraScope, hosted by MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, last weekend, was SPECKTACULAR!

Highlights, in no particular order!

Meeting the CoG Staff, including Jason, Mary, Rebecca, and Dan! I was able to get to know them better and learn more about their projects and the company itself. And they very generously bought us dinner, ice cream, and beer!

(I managed to hang out pretty late with Jason, Miguel, and Chris Friday night, but by Saturday night I was drained. Sunday night was rough as I stayed up all night, fearful of oversleeping for my 2:30 am Uber pickup to the airport.)

Socializing with and learning from other HG and CoG writers. I don't want to leave anyone out, but it was a pleasure hanging with Miguel, Chris, Bendi, Ian, etc. I didn't get to spend much time with Kevin, Aaron, and a few others, but there's always next time!

The presentations and panels! So informative across the board, with a few real standouts from Cat Manning, Rebecca Slitt, Ian Thomas, and others. I reminded myself to avoid feature creep, challenge historical assumptions I might still hold in my head, and sometimes embrace a "less is more" approach to narrative when appropriate.

And the overall creative buzz of such an awesome group of people. I'm still on a creative high, frantically memorializing some (really good I think) ideas for new projects, and listing all the tools I can employ to greatly enhance CCH3 and Talon City.

I've attached some pics! The cool twisted building hosted our conference!

I'm already considering when I can go again, if they do another of these! For now, I'm getting back to my short story, which I hope to have published here soon.

(NOTE: This is a free post. You are ONLY charged $1 when I post a short story. Just a reminder)
