Cover reveal for my upcoming Wuxia/Cultivation novel that’s also a portal fantasy out in August called Way of the Immortals: Path of the Divine
What is Wuxia?

(In truth, the book is actually in the Xianxia genre, but Wuxia is larger)

Harmon, what the hell are you writing?
Western cultivation novels are starting to grow in popularity, and most center upon a very China-centric understanding of enlightenment (cultivation/immortality). I want to add my own tow cents to the genre, relying on the information I received through my studies in Asia. I studied Tibetan, Mongolian and Japanese, lived with Tibetans, and spent a considerable amount of time in India, Nepal and Bhutan (and later Mongolia and Japan).
Is this a Free Tibet sort of thing?
Yes and no. Wait. Yes, well, sort of.
Tibetan and Bhutanese lore is RIPE with amazing stories and concepts, many of which never reach a western audience. While in this region, I saw and experienced things that still make no sense to me. Inspiration for this series also comes from religious texts I’ve read, old British journals about journeying in Tibet (fascinating stuff!) and some of the lectures I experienced in Asia.
That said, I’m trying to make the book as fast-paced as possible. In fact, I believe that it runs faster than ANYTHING I’ve written yet. It calms down some as the book progresses, but boy does it hit the ground running. So rest assured: Way of the Immortals has more in common with a pulp novel than it does a text on the benefits of meditation.
Expect a metric ton of action, deep dives on karma, interesting characters, adult situations (sex!) and quite a bit of magic. Borrowing from Tibetan and Japanese, I’ve started to develop characters for the main character to trace in the air when he casts a rune. I’ll keep at it as the series progresses.
It’s one of the most exciting genres to tackle, and I’m so excited for you to read it. I’ll start posting chapters this week, Neil Hellegers will do audio (out in September!) and I also plan to donate some of the proceeds from the sales of this book to Tibet House, which helps Tibetan refugees in India. Unfortunately, I am not easily able to help Tibetans in the TAR (Tibetan Autonomous Region) because of China, but hopefully, this book will help those that have escaped or have been born in exile.
I’ll post this again in the facebook group next week. Right now, it’s a build-up to the Child of Chaos launch. Have your reviews ready!
