I was baptized Anglican-Catholic and raised Episcopal. My parents would always bemoan how it used to be "the Republican party at prayer" but was now a bunch of "bleeding heart happy Jesus liberals". The only reason my parents didn't drag us to a different Episcopal Church over the gay bishop and other things is b/c the one we went to was just 5 minutes from our house. I went to college at the Episcopal Notre Dame (Sewanee). Your discussion of Protestantism spoke to me.

Loved this chat a lot! Really interesting to hear from Angela and very intrigued by the sketches she laid out about a new book. It’s quite ironic to think of her investigation into the alt-right and the legacy of Kill All Normies as something that sheds more light on the left. Despite being such a modest part of her original thesis, the extent to which their cultural project was aggravated seems like a bit of an omen for what was to come. Retrospectively the alt-right seems like a flash in the pan compared.
