The experienced explorer Lara Croft had another adventure ahead of her. This time she'd decide to explore an open water sunken temple she had heard of not so long ago overhearing a conversation. What will she find? Treasure? Maybe some sunken jewelry? She wanted to find out and couldn't wait any longer.
The brunette explorer set out, already dressed in her black and yellow stripped wetsuit, her goggles and fins laying just beside her. She already had an idea to where it was, it wasn't very deep either so she just decided to not need to bring an air tank. She could hold her breath for a while so it shouldn't be much of a problem for the adventurer.
"Jesus... finally here. Little further away than I thought but eh, fuck it." She stepped down from the wheel, getting down to the deck and beginning to put on her fins first, tightening them up nicely. She'd then snug on her goggles, already adjusted to her head size. "Good... Good..." Lara spoke to herself to double check everything she has on.
"Alright... should just be right below here. Better be worth it, if not, I better get a refund for this stupid expensive boat rental." Lara exclaimed. She'd sit on the edge of the deck, taking deep breaths before taking her free dive. "Here we go." She said before taking a deep breath and falling backwards into the sea.
As she predicted, the sunken temple is out in the open right below her. She smiled behind her goggles out of confidence, "Damn I'm fuckin' good~" she spoke to herself in her head.
After she reached the flooring of the temple she looked up, seeing how deep she was. It wasn't very deep to what she's used to, only around 30ft deep this far out from civilization. She looks around, her tied hair flipping with her quick head turns. She'd move rocks, look in seaweed, uncover dirty patches, she found nothing.
"Is there seriously nothing in this stupid place?" She'd continue to look around, still nothing. A few minutes have gone by now and Lara hasn't gone up for a fresh breath yet. She began to get frustrated, moving and waving things a lot more quickly and more aggressively.
"Stupid dump. Everything must've floated away by now. Might as we- wha..." Lara spoke to herself in her head, surprised by something though. She was going to go back to the surface and back onto the boat but... something was in front of her, something she's never seen before. Was this... a mermaid? 'There's no way!' Lara thought, shocked. The diver simply stared, not knowing what to do. However, the mermaid seemed curious... has she seen a human before? Stars glowed in her eyes and placing a finger near her mouth out of curiosity...
Lara could only just look back, but suddenly remembering her time under is almost up with a sudden soft spasm at her abs. Once Lara started to swim up to the surface after a wave to the mermaid, the mermaid quickly grabbed hold of Lara. Pulling her in for a tight hug and huge smile. Did she think was a mermaid from her big fins? With whatever reason it was, Lara began to struggle in the mermaid's grip. She's squirmed and kicked, anything to be set free. It wasn't working. The mermaid kept smiling and hugging her close.
"GBGABL! GBLET MBLE GBLO!!" Lara begs the mermaid, feeling her spasms becoming more and more aggressive.
Their squirming continued for a few more minutes, Lara continuously begging to be set free for that fresh breath of air her body has been asking for what feels like forever now. She can feel her chest heaving heavily, trying to cough out her stale air into the sea, constantly telling her to breathe. Her abs caving in trying to force out her air as well. She knew she couldn't breathe now, it would mean the end, but her body could only hold off for so long. Her heaves got harder, her abdomen trying to expel her stale air out. It was no use, she knew she couldn't last a second longer.
After trying to free herself from the mermaid, her body finally take's over Lara's thoughts, taking her first watery breath in. She instantly tried to cough it out, only to breath in more, and the cycle continues. Her body shakes and flails randomly trying to just find a way to stop water from invading her throat and lungs. Lara feels the cold sea water travel to her chest, getting heavier and heavier with every breath. "I-I'm actually drowning! What is this... weird feeling..." Her brain doesn't know what to think, she's just in shock as her body goes into autopilot. The mermaid seemed to be intrigued of her playmate, hearing and watching her drown right in her arms.
"GULPBL! GBUK! HUK!"
"huk... glb... bgulbp..." Her body and thoughts begin to slow, unable to speak anymore. The only sounds the diver making are soft gurgles and gulps. Her chest has an unfamiliar heaviness to it, darkness to begins to creep in around her vision. The explorers abs caving in to try and push out its own mistake of sucking in the sea. Lara's breathing starting to look as if it's natural, her body no longer fighting the water. Her jaw and mouth slowly opening and closing with soft grunts after every breath. Lara felt at peace... she knew something was wrong but didn't know what. Her vision began to darken further as she slowly passes out in the mermaids arms, the only movement left being small shivers and twitches.
The mermaid wondered why her playmate stopped "playing", getting annoyed and bored.
The mermaid just leaves the waterlogged Lara on the bottom of the temple floor, leaving her body to only lighting heave, still trying to fight even after passing out for a bit now. Her grunts stopped, as well as her movements, leaving her simply to lay still 30ft under the surface. Her mouth rested open, laying face up to the surface as the mermaid swims away wondering why her playmate just stopped playing out of nowhere. Lara laid on the temple floor, motionless and waterlogged to the brim. Lara has drowned at the hands of a curious mermaid.
