Answering your NFL Draft questions

I want to thank all of our wonderful Patrons who submitted questions this week! For those of you who did not have their questions make it into the video, rest assured I will be going through the rest of the thread this weekend and answering them all here as well!

Answering your NFL Draft questions

Comments

Are we witnessing a shift/evolution at the tight end position? Back in 2023, we saw an impressive TE class that hit the ground running, contributing much earlier than usual. Traditionally, tight ends take a few years to develop because they need to understand the full playbook like a quarterback and also be ready to block effectively. But players like Sam LaPorta and Brock Bowers proved they could step in right away, and now it looks like Tyler Warren might be next in line. This year’s class appears just as stacked. From a roster-building standpoint, it makes sense to lean into TEs—especially when they’re such versatile pass-catchers and come at a much lower cost than wide receivers on second or third contracts. So why not load up and exploit mismatches with 2- or even 3-TE sets? That said, I’m puzzled by the hype around Warren being rated higher than Colston Loveland. To me, Loveland looks like the more complete, Day 1 NFL-ready tight end—he’s a better blocker, route runner, and might have the best hands in the entire draft. I get that Warren flashes with physicality and YAC potential, but Loveland is younger and seems just as pro-ready. What am I missing here?
