2022-09-15 20:36:35 +0000 UTCMy cockatiel came on an actually pretty decent seed mix (i.e no sugar or sunflower seeds) so I didn't have any real problems going into my own DIY seed/grain mix. That being said, even he was interested in cooked rice and birdie bread right away. I wonder why you didn't try birdie bread or get him interested in a more variety of food rather than just focusing on seed conversion. Also, if you need for comparison, I found that my cockatiel would only eat one to 1.5 teaspoon a meal if it was seed/pellet mix. That way I could clearly see if he ate all the different seeds/grain. It's funny to see what grains he liked the least from what was left over, lol. If he was really hungry, he'd eat all of it. These days, his mix is 3/4 teaspoon of pellets, 1/4 teaspoon seed mix so the seeds are all gone of course!
