State of Something Address for April 2020

Hi everyone, I hope your month has been going well. This SoS is going to be a little different from the usual ones, as it's more a clump of things going off the top of my head rather than specific issues.

It's been about a month since my job had to shut down as a nonessential during this weird period in our lives, and...I gotta say, I don't miss it all that much. Weird, right? I might address that at a later point, but I feel like Patreon is telling me this is long enough as it is, so we'll just move on from there.

In all seriousness, I've been doing fine as far as finances go. The full-time job is still closed, and I've had to resort to unemployment until things open back up in my neck of the woods. My only worry is with health insurance, since we've been informed that our premiums will be paid through April, but no clue how things will be following the end of the month just yet. In the meantime, I'll have to focus on hunting for my own insurance, if one exists within a reasonable price.

As far as commissions go, they've been keeping me busy throughout the shutdown, as it's something to do from feeling completely bored after a while. I especially took on a lot more last cycle just in case the shutdown went longer than the two weeks we were originally given, but as you might notice the current cycle is looking to go well into May. There's no problem there, it just means that I'll likely open up a little later in the month and give myself some time off.

That said, I do appreciate and thank all of you for sticking around for your support. To those that had to drop off for their own reasons, I can completely understand that your situations might have changed due to current circumstances. As I'm now using the funds from Patreon to support other content creators, most important the VAs in the monthly audios, it means a lot that you're all still here, as I wouldn't be able to work on that particular project without you and your support.

Speaking of, I've already chosen the voice of Weiss for the Royal Pain audio, and have been speaking with them all week. Hopefully you'll enjoy her talents, as I felt she fit the role well. Once I complete work on the editing, we'll be having another poll to decide next month's release, and while I have ideas on what I want to do, I'm more than open to hear some ideas from all of you. Comment below if there's a particular story you'd like to see turned into an audio.

Lastly, because I don't believe I brought it up on here, but next week is the official release for my first ever published book! That's right, I'll be releasing "Samantha Drift And The Robot's Rod" on April 24th! It's currently on digital release on Amazon, meaning that you can read it on your Kindle or any device that allows the Kindle app. The pre-order period is still ongoing until then, of course, so if you're curious to see what I have in store, check it out!

Why now? And why through Kindle? It was a project I worked on a while back, but never had published in the anthology book it was intended for. So with things being as slow as they are...now seems as good a time as any to do it.

That's all I have for now. Thank you all once more for your support! Please make sure you all stay safe, stay healthy, and please don't leave the house unless you need groceries or a little bit of fresh air. The sooner we all play it safe, the sooner the world can start moving again!
