[EARLY VIDEO] The festival that trains make possible

Hi everyone, bit of a surprise video for you - I'd been thinking about making this for quite some time, but never mentioned it here because I wasn't really sure if it would happen. After getting more footage (and observations) from the recent 2025 edition of this festival, I managed to smash this one out pretty quickly.

Some of you may recognise a familiar face or two in this one!

Hope you enjoy it. :)

Some extra info: (as if there wasn't enough already), the train could be watered by the RFS in Blackheath, and turned at the Clarence colliery balloon loop, both of which have been done in the past. Passengers could also alight at Medlow Bath for the Hydro Majestic, another popular destination.

Here in Blackheath we have a similar situation! The Blackheath Rhododendron festival is held on the first weekend in November, and seems to be very similar to the wattle festival. Unfortunately the festival has seen a downturn in numbers over the past few years ($1000 if you can figure out why), and I'd always thought that a steam special to bring people from the city would help the festival. It's about two and a half hours from the city by train, so you could run one trip out and back, and the trip itself has a lot of appeal. From flying though the suburbs past Blacktown to winding up through gorges and valleys, it would be a great journey. Unfortunately something like that will probably never happen.
