[EARLY VIDEO] A Sydney trip with a difference

Hello everyone! This video really started out as just a few observations from my recent family trip to Sydney, and then.. it snowballed into 23 minutes, and here we are! Hope you enjoy it.

Yep it's very true, much harder to sleep when you're trying to also pay attention to everything going on! :)

Same! I always 'sleep' with the curtains slightly open on the XPT so the light of the stations wake me up! Safe to say I don't always arrive into Southern Cross that well rested.

Great video again Martin! It seems that if TfNSW orders seperate rollingstock for night trains this could be a good thing. Seperate stock could allow the sleeping experience to be more comfortable, while minimising knock on delays, but that's just my outlook on the situation.

Great video and thank you for putting it together! I’ve traveled by sleeper a handful of times both here in the States and in Europe (including Ukraine prior to the war.) I found it difficult to sleep at times because the foamer in me is always curious what’s going on. I found the sleeper option on the CZ between Chicago and Denver is a nice option. It’s an afternoon departure with an early morning arrival the next day and you can sleep through the flatlands of Iowa, Nebraska, and western Colorado before waking up outside of Denver. I have never tried the trip with my kids at any age, so props for that as well.

Yes, they're not making it easy unfortunately! Fingers crossed the sleepers might be around for a couple more years while they get the new trains ready to go.

Thank you for a great video, again. Norway are going in the same direction as the XPT with "convertable" cabins instead of having dedicated sleeper coaches., and there are fewer places in each train than today, which are almost always fully booked out. At least they aren't scrapping the sleepers though like NSW. I did not know that part. When I get around to get to Oz again I would prefer the night train rather than driving/day train, but if I am too late for the XPT sleeper, having a rental car is probably the option I am ending up with instead. So I guess they are going to loose a few potential travellers that way.

excellent video! gives a very in depth look into sleeper cars and the overnight travel as a whole

Jackary!
