A city on the brink of annihilation

As the spell completes, your senses are assaulted by a scorching wind carrying the acrid stench of sulfur and ash. You find yourselves on a crumbling street in a city on the brink of annihilation. Around you, buildings lie shattered and broken, their jagged edges silhouetted against a blood-red sky. Above, a massive black orb crackles with blue-white lightning, sending bolts down into the city with terrifying force. The ground beneath your feet quakes, and you feel a sickening lurch as the city itself seems to shift downward, dragged slowly and inexorably by colossal chains that disappear into the churning depths of the River Styx far below.

Far off on a towering bluff, the remains of a once-mighty cathedral cling stubbornly to the earth, its alabaster walls streaked with soot and shadow. A low, mournful wail rises from the streets, blending with the cries of the desperate and the tortured.

Ahead, a woman stumbles into view, clutching two small children to her chest. Behind her, three fiends with serpentine beards and cruel glaives close in, their laughter cutting through the chaos like a blade. The devils' eyes gleam with malice as they tighten their grip on their prey.

You are not alone in this hellish place, but you are the only hope these people have. What do you do?
