The machine's armature slides along its ring and its glow intensifies to a brilliant yellow-white as it struggles to hold Dmitri's arm immobile. The machine's low hum rises in pitch and volume until it reaches a strident whine. Dmitri's bicep bulges, his face contorts and his arm shakes with the effort as he continues to move his arm inexorably downwards - the machine unable to overcome him!
