The Pledge, a Blades in the Dark playbook

Hey scoundrels,

Well, I got bitten by the game jam bug again. I know, I know. But don't worry, work still continues on A Torch in the Dark, I've finished all 9 dungeons and am now testing them for balance and consistency.

In the meantime though my friend Justin started the Unusual Suspects Game Jam, a jam all about creating custom character playbooks for Blades in the Dark. I've had ideas for custom playbooks for a little while now, so I thought this would be a good time to polish those ideas off and release them into the wild.

This first playbook is the Pledge, a young petty thief and newcomer to the crew. This fills in the "new kid" trope that is present in a lot of media that inspired Blades but didn't yet exist as a playable character. It's based on having some limited talents, being innocent to the ways of the scoundrels of Doskvol, and not quite yet being broken down by vices and poor choices.

The playbook is free, since it is based on the design work and world building that isn't mine and isn't covered in the Blades in the Dark SRD. It's the equivalent of RPG fan fiction, I suppose.

I've also got plans for a playbook called the Operative, designed for Scum & Villainy, a sci-fi hack of Blades in the Dark. Not sure if I'll get around to that one or not, but I will keep you all posted.
